Third-Party Services

Overview

TagDrop uses carefully selected third-party services to provide a secure, reliable price tracking experience. This page explains what services we use and how they handle your data.

1. Firebase (Google Cloud)

Purpose: Authentication, database, hosting, and cloud functions

Data Shared:

• Email address for authentication
• Tracked item data (URLs, prices, product info)
• User preferences and settings

2. Stripe

Purpose: Payment processing for subscriptions and donations

Data Shared:

• Email address
• Payment information (handled directly by Stripe - we never see your full card number)
• Transaction history

3. Apple App Store

Purpose: Payment processing for iOS in-app subscriptions

Data Shared:

• Store account and payment information handled directly by Apple - we never see card details
• Subscription transaction IDs and purchase status

4. Google Play

Purpose: Payment processing for Android in-app subscriptions

Data Shared:

• Google Play account and payment information handled directly by Google - we never see card details
• Subscription transaction IDs and purchase status

5. RevenueCat

Purpose: Mobile subscription status management — receives webhook events from Apple App Store and Google Play to track subscription state. Does not process payments directly.

Data Shared:

• App user identifier (Firebase UID or RevenueCat app user ID)
• Subscription product ID, tier, and status
• Subscription event timestamps

6. Expo (EAS)

Purpose: Mobile app building and distribution

Data Shared:

• App crash reports and diagnostics
• Device information for compatibility

7. Google Safe Browsing API

Purpose: Website safety verification for Trust Ratings

Data Shared:

• URL hashes of websites you track (not full URLs)
• No personal information is shared

How It Works: We check tracked URLs against Google's database of known malicious sites. This helps us identify potentially dangerous websites and warn you before you make purchases.

8. BuiltWith API

Purpose: Website technology analysis for Trust Ratings

Data Shared:

• Domain names of websites you track
• No personal information is shared

How It Works: We analyze the technology stack of tracked websites to identify legitimate e-commerce platforms, payment processors, and security certificates. This helps us assess website trustworthiness.

9. Zyte (Web Data Extraction)

Purpose: Web data extraction for price monitoring on websites that block standard access

Data Shared:

• URLs of websites you track
• No personal information is shared

How It Works: When a website blocks our standard price-checking methods, we use Zyte's web data extraction service to retrieve the page content and extract current pricing information.

10. AI Services (OpenAI Vision & Anthropic Claude)

Purpose: AI-powered price extraction and product analysis

Data Shared:

• Screenshot images (when using screenshot feature)
• Webpage content for price extraction

Note: We use the API in a way that your data is not used to train AI models.

11. Push Notification Services

Purpose: Sending price drop alerts

Services:

• Apple Push Notification Service (APNs): For iOS devices
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): For Android devices

Data Shared: Device push token and notification content

Participating Merchants (When You Request Contact)

Purpose: Let the named merchant respond to your request about its listing

Data Shared:

• Your full name and email address
• Your phone number, if you provide one
• The specific listing you asked about

Participating merchants are recipients you choose, not TagDrop service providers. Dealer contact is optional and separate from tracking alerts. A merchant receives only its own consented lead, never your other tracked items, watchlist, or comparison history.

Data Minimization

We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function. We regularly review our third-party relationships and remove services that are no longer needed.
